We recently wrote that it’s not yet time to take iodine, and that’s probably still true. While a plume of radiation IS heading towards the West Coast, nuclear experts say it will become diluted along the way and will cause only very minor health problems in the US. Radiation from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster reached the West Coast in 10 days, but at that point, the radiation contained in the cloud was a tiny amount.
In he March 16th edition of the New York Times, William J. Broad quotes the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission as saying that it expected that no "harmful levels of radioactivity" would travel from Japan to the United States "given the thousands of miles between the two countries."
But we may have a home-grown nuclear problem right here in Texas once TEPCO, the Japanese company that has been hired to install nuclear power plants there, builds its power plants. TEPCO has been called the "BP of nuclear power" (NOTE: Subscribers can still listen to this incredible report). In the March 17 edition of "The Australian," Alexi Mostrous and Alex Ralph report that the Japanese owner of the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant falsified safety data and tried to cover up problems there when it was caught in 2002 for "conducting dishonest practices." WikiLeaks revealed that Japan was warned in 2009 that its power plants could not withstand powerful earthquakes. Aren’t you glad that unknowncountry is here to provide the facts about what’s REALLY going on? If you are please make sure we’ll still be here to do it tomorrow and subscribe today (and come see us in June!)
